The eighth notebook of the Repères collection is available.

Thanks to Web 2.0 and social media, our freedom of expression and our modes of communication seem to have increased tenfold. We have become players on the Web. Everyone has the opportunity to create content, join a community, interact, participate and make their voice heard on the web.
New media figures have therefore emerged: influencers.

Anonymous, celebrities, children, virtual creatures and even animals are exposed on digital platforms. In 2019, there were no less than 300 YouTube channels in Belgium and the 30 most popular French-speaking Belgian channels alone accumulated more than 21 million subscribers and billions of views.

To what extent and in what way do they influence our behavior as consumers and citizens? Just as we educate the youngest in traditional advertising, should we also do it on this new format? How can we explore the creativity of influencers, develop our own talents while exercising our critical mind and anticipating the effects of the message on the recipient that we are?

This latest notebook from the “Repères” collection attempts to provide answers to these questions.
